Testing and Assessments

Alvord Baker provides comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations for children, teens, and adults addressing cognitive, emotional, attentional, academic, social, and behavioral concerns.

These evaluations offer insights into a range of developmental challenges, including attention deficits, learning disabilities, and neurodevelopmental disorders like autism spectrum disorder (ASD). By identifying areas of strength and weakness, we empower families, schools, and individuals to comprehensively support academic and personal growth.

Developmental, Psychoeducational and Neuropsychological Evaluations

We offer evaluation services for both children and adults to assess a variety of neurodevelopmental, learning, and functional challenges. Our evaluations focus on areas such as intelligence, developmental levels, academic skills, executive functioning (i.e. attention, planning, and impulse control), memory, language, social interactions, behavior, adaptive functioning, and emotional development.

People often seek evaluations to better understand or rule out conditions like ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, or learning disabilities. Evaluations also help to explore how emotional factors such as anxiety or depression may impact academic or work performance.

We embrace a neurodivergent-affirming approach, respecting and appreciating diverse neurological needs and perspectives while recognizing the unique strengths and interests of each individual.

How the Evaluation Process Works

Child Therapy

Initial Session

We start with a session to gather background information and discuss concerns.

Testing

Over 2-3 days, we conduct standardized testing which may include input from people who know the individual well (e.g. teachers, spouses). We may also observe students in a classroom setting.

Feedback and Report

After the evaluation, we schedule a feedback meeting to discuss results, impressions, and recommendations. We then provide a detailed written report.
