Dr. Shane Wise is a licensed clinical psychologist who provides a range of psychotherapeutic treatments to support children, adults, and families managing complex emotional challenges. Shane has extensive experience helping individuals suffering from difficulties such as OCD, ADHD, anxiety disorders, depression & mood disorders, and PTSD. He supports families in addressing behavioral concerns, promoting healthy development, and managing the often-overwhelming stress that can come with parenting. He is especially passionate about supporting fathers as they navigate the often-complex emotional landscape of raising children.
Shane also has a particular interest in supporting the healing process for those who have suffered from traumatic experiences. He is a certified provider of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), the gold standard treatment for youth with PTSD, having trained extensively during his time at the Kennedy Krieger Center for Child and Family Traumatic Stress.
Additionally, Shane provides Family Therapy for those who require support repairing parent-teen dynamics and managing turbulence within the family unit.
Shane believes in the importance of providing high-quality and effective therapy to his clients, and as such focuses on interventions that are shown to help people navigate distress and live happier, more fulfilled lives. His work utilizes an integrative approach from evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Functional Family Therapy (FFT), and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). He also believes that therapy works best when it represents a genuine, collaborative partnership, and so empowers clients to steer their own therapeutic process. Shane operates from the belief that clients possess an inherent understanding of their struggles, their aspirations, and the experiences that impact them; and he partners with clients to bring these to the forefront of their work together.
Dr. Wise completed his Ph.D. at the Pennsylvania State University doctoral program in Clinical Psychology. He completed his predoctoral internship at the Kennedy Krieger Institute Department of Behavioral Psychology, and post-doctoral training at the Capital Institute for Cognitive Therapy in Washington, DC. He is licensed in the state of Maryland and is PsyPact authorized to provide telehealth services in all PsyPact participating states (https://psypact.gov/page/psypactmap).
