

Dr. Elana Horowitz (she/her/hers) is a licensed clinical psychologist in Maryland who values creating a genuine, compassionate, and accepting environment to treat mental health concerns in children, adolescents, young adults and their families. She utilizes evidence-based therapeutic interventions informed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Functional Family Therapy (FFT), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Dr. Horowitz integrates expressive art, bibliotherapy, and play as complementary tools within an evidence-based treatment framework, using these approaches to increase engagement and support progress towards clients’ therapeutic goals. She specializes in the treatment of anxiety, mood concerns, OCD, ADHD, adjustment, and trauma-related disorders. She also uses therapeutic skills to address concerns related to identity development, adjustment, social skills, and parent-child relationships. She is passionate about creating a welcoming environment and values and respects individual differences, identities, and cultures. Dr. Horowitz uses a personalized approach to treatment, recognizing that people are experts on themselves, their values, and their goals.
Dr. Horowitz earned her Psy.D. in clinical psychology at The Chicago School. She completed her predoctoral internship at Primary Care Psychology Associates in Chicago, Illinois and her postdoctoral fellowship at Kennedy Krieger Institute Child and Family Therapy Clinic and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She has gained clinical experience across a range of settings, including a community mental health trauma center, a therapeutic day school, a hospital outpatient clinic, and in private practice settings.
Outside of work, Dr. Horowitz enjoys reading, rollerblading, and playing with her two cats.
