Intermediate Level: Intermediate-advanced. Mental health professionals including social workers and psychologists, psychiatrists. Pediatricians may also find it beneficial.

The workshop will provide participants with a clear understanding of the cognitive-behavioral treatment of OCD in children and teens. The participants will learn the types of OCD, how to assess for OCD, including a brief review the CY-BOCS. The three parts of anxiety will be discussed: physiological (body), cognitive (thoughts), and behavioral, and the treatment of each component will be explained in detail. Participants will learn specific techniques, including cognitive strategies such as loop & uncertainty training recordings, self-talk, detached mindfulness, attention training technique, and others; and how to address the behavioral manifestations (rituals, avoidance, compulsions) commonly seen in children with OCD, primarily through EPR (exposure/response prevention) and imaginal exposure. Participants will also gain an understanding of the role of familial accommodation and how to best work with parents to support their children in the treatment process.
