Due to COVID-19, Alvord, Baker & Associates is currently primarily providing services via telehealth. We have limited in-office services and most groups are hybrid (mostly in-person and some virtual sessions).  We monitor recommendations from the CDC, the Maryland Department of Health, and Montgomery County in order to assess and adapt our offices to accommodate and protect you as well as our staff.  In the meantime, we will continue to offer telehealth whenever possible and mutually agreed upon.  All telehealth sessions are conducted via HIPAA-secure video platforms.

For those new to our practice, please know that we currently have a waitlist for individual therapy, parent training, and group therapy.  We have closed our waitlist for all individual appointments after 3PM. Groups, however, are all held after 3PM. At this time, in order to be added to our individual waitlist, you must be flexible and able to schedule appointments prior to 3PM.

Please contact our intake coordinator at 301-593-6554 x 23.

Thank you and stay well.

Welcome to Alvord, Baker & Associates

Alvord, Baker & Associates, LLC is a unique, caring and innovative psychotherapy practice founded by Drs. Mary Alvord and Patricia Baker in 1983. We specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based treatments. Our practice offers individual therapy for children, adolescents, and adults as well as therapy for couples, families, and groups. Additional services include psychological evaluations and school consultations.

We are well aware that the decision to seek help from a mental health professional is not an easy one.  From the first phone call, each of our therapists will take the time to understand and help clarify needs. We work with individuals and families continually to develop and hone therapeutic goals and plans.

We stand with and support Black people and those who protest the police brutality and systemic racism that have led to the current crisis in our country.
